Bovine Viral Diarrhoea
Bovine Viral Diarrhoea is one of the most common diseases found within a herd. The disease which affects the cattle respiratory and reproductive systems of the cattle is caused through a congenital infection of either the fetus or after birth. Congenital infections may cause resorption, abortion, stillbirth, or live-birth.
It is currently an infection which costs the UK dairy and beef industries rough £25-60 million per annum and over €100 million in Ireland. This cost is coming as a result of vaccinations which are reaching nearly 5 million administered per year in the UK alone.
Bovine Pathogen Array
Randox Food have developed a Bovine Pathogen Array test which can simultaneously detect 6 commonly found pathogens. It utilises Randox’s innovative Biochip Array Technology for the multiplex screening of a milk sample for 9 biomarkers related to prevalent bovine diseases, ensuring the highest degree of sensitivity and specificity. The tests can be conducted on a single sample of milk with a full set of results being received within 2 hours 30 minutes of the test being conducted.
The 6 pathogens detected on the Bovine Pathogen Array –
- Bovine Viral Diarrhoea (BVD)
- Bovine Herpesvirus I
- Paratuberculosis
- Leptospirosis
- Neospora Caninum
- Fasciola Hepatica
At Randox Food we aim to make screening simple and with this new and industry leading Bovine Pathogen Array.
